Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo completed the full length of Sunday's Carabao Cup final, as Manchester City defeated Arsenal 2-0.
A second half double by midfielder-turned left back, Nico O'reilly secured City's and Semenyo's first trophy of the season.
Semenyo operated predominantly on the right and came close to scoring in the second half, but his left footed curler from the right missed the Arsenal goal.
Speaking to SkySports after the match, Semenyo said: “First trophy of many I hope! God's got a plan”.
“It might not work out, you might not know why, but the answer always reveals itself.”
The Carabao Cup trophy is Semenyo's first since joining City in January from A.F.C. Bournemouth.
Semenyo is now the first Ghanaian to have won the competition since Michael Essien last won it with Chelsea in 2007.
Semenyo is expected to join the Black Stars team camp in Vienna, as Ghana faces Austria and Germany in international friendlies this week.
