Real Madrid has confirmed that Carlo Ancelotti will step down as head coach following the club’s final match of the season, marking the end of a highly decorated tenure that has seen him become the most successful manager in the club’s history.
The club and Ancelotti reached a mutual agreement to part ways, with the Italian coach set to take charge of his final game at the Santiago Bernabéu on Saturday.
In an official statement, Real Madrid expressed its appreciation for Ancelotti’s service, describing him as “one of the greatest legends of Real Madrid and world football.”
“Carlo Ancelotti led our team through one of the most successful periods in our 123-year history and has become the coach with the most titles in our history,” the club said.
During his two spells in Madrid, Ancelotti guided the team to 15 major trophies, including: three UEFA Champions League titles, three FIFA Club World Cups, three UEFA Super Cups, two La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies, and two Spanish Super Cups.
Real Madrid President Florentino Pérez praised Ancelotti’s impact both on and off the pitch. “Carlo Ancelotti is now forever part of the great Real Madrid family,” he said.
“We are proud to have enjoyed a coach who has helped us achieve so much success and who has also represented the values of our club in an exemplary manner.”
Ancelotti’s leadership has not only brought success but also earned the respect of players, fans, and the wider football community.
Though no player statements were included in the official release, club sources indicate that several first-team players privately expressed admiration for the 64-year-old’s calm approach, tactical knowledge, and ability to manage dressing-room dynamics.
The club added: “Real Madrid wishes him and his entire family the best of luck in this new stage of his life.”
Ancelotti's farewell will be marked by a tribute at the Bernabéu, where fans are expected to show their appreciation for a manager who delivered the club’s historic ‘La Décima’ Champions League title in 2014, and most recently, their 15th in 2024.
The Italian has not publicly commented on his next move, but sources close to him suggest that he is expected to honour his commitment to take over as head coach of the Brazil national team from July 2025.
As Ancelotti prepares to bid farewell, the club begins the search for a successor to continue the legacy of excellence he helped to shape.
