The Christian Health Association of Ghana has confirmed receipt of payment for services provided to National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) cardholders, the National Health Insurance Authority has said.A statement issued Thursday said CHAG has therefore directed missionary hospitals to resume the provision of healthcare services to persons with NHIS cards.The Executive Director of CHAG, Dr Gilbert Buckle also confirmed the receipt of claims payment and the consequent resumption of services to subscribers of the national health insurance scheme.Dr. Buckle said the decision to resume the services followed confirmation from the 183 missionary hospitals which were owed some amount of GH¢50 million, that they had received their money.Read the full statement belowFollowing the release of additional funds from the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to its service providers, the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG) has confirmed receipt of payment for services provided to NHIS cardholders.CHAG has therefore called off its suspension of service to card bearers of the NHIS, effective Friday, March 15, 2013.In a letter to the NHIA dated March 14, 2013, CHAG said, ‘feedback from our member institutions indicates that there is evidence of receipt of funds transfer for September and October 2012 as at today March 14, in addition we have also been informed that payment towards November 2012 is being processed.’The letter further stated that, ‘all CHAG facilities will resume accepting NHIS cards with effect from Friday, March 15, 2013.’ The NHIA appreciates the patience and cooperation of its valued stakeholders and assures the general public, particularly subscribers of its commitment to providing financial protection against the cost of quality basic healthcare delivery in Ghana.Thank you. -­‐-­‐signed-­‐-­‐ Strategy and Corporate Affairs National Health Insurance Authority Accra
