The Headmaster of the Saltpond Methodist Senior High School, Reverend Paa Solomon Grant Essilfie, has appealed to the National Media Commission (NMC) to check the wrong usage of language on the airwaves by radio presenters, which he said quite often, lacked decorum.Rev. Essilfie said such “bad” usage of the language on airwaves tends to compound or reinforce existing societal problems especially indiscipline. The Headmaster, who made the appeal when he interacted with teachers of the school at Saltpond on Wednesday, noted that such indecent expressions were either used by the presenters themselves or they encouraged it through phone-in programmes by listeners.Rev. Essilfie urged managers of radio stations to employ people, who were well vexed in the local dialects to translate news items for readers and presenters since most were culpable making mess of the translations especially in the Akan language. On education, he said, the teachers needed motivation to deliver and therefore appealed to government to adequately resource them to deliver quality education.According to him, the falling standards of education could be reversed and improved if teachers were well paid and motivated.Source: GNA
