The National House of Chiefs on Friday joined the chorus of calls on the two parties which contested the December 28 run-off election and their supporters to accept the result in good faith.In a statement signed by Wulugu Naba Naa Prof. John S. Nabila, President and Awulae Attibrukusu III, vice president, noted that in all elections, there would always be a winner and a loser.“We therefore call on the leadership of the political parties and the rank and file as well as all other Ghanaians to accept in good faith the outcome of the 2008 presidential elections after the result of the Tain constituency have been announced by the Electoral Commission (EC) as the will of the people is the sole interest of the nation,” the House of Chiefs said.The Chiefs appealed to the rank and file of the parties to regard the outcome of the 2008 elections as a victory for all Ghanaians.“We would like to appeal to winners in particular to reach out to their other compatriots in celebrating victory.”The Chiefs said as fathers of the nation, they were calling on all Ghanaians to think of the nation first and conduct themselves in a peaceful and disciplined manner.“We must all ensure that the good name Ghana has earned as a beacon of hope for democracy in Africa is not thrown away.”The House of Chiefs congratulated and thanked the contesting political parties and their candidates, including the independent candidates, the EC, security agencies, the media, electorate as well as the foreign and local observers for their various roles in the 2008 elections.Source: GNA
