The Commission of Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) is set to begin a nationwide crusade to instill integrity in Ghanaians as a means of fighting corruption.

The crusade comes at a time when corruption is perceived to be on the ascendancy in Ghana.

Even the Commission has not been spared the allegation of corruption and misuse of public funds .

Its Commissioner Lauretta Lamptey is accused of spending public funds on luxury apartments and hotels, which for years now, have served as her residence. Her official residence is said to be under renovation.

At a press conference of the African Parliamentarians Network Against Corruption at the International Press Centre in Accra, a Deputy CHRAJ Commissioner, Richard Quayson said his outfit will use the nationwide tour to educate people about corruption.

Joy News' Beatrice Adu who was at the press conference reported the Deputy Commissioner as saying their mission is to "instill integrity mindset" in many Ghanaians.

This they will do by interacting with opinion leaders, chiefs and the media.

Richard Quayson said the rationale for the tour is to ensure that Ghanaians play a watchdog role in the fight against corruption.

In the end, Quayson wants Ghanaians to prevent corruption, rather than wait till it happens and then they will report it.

The Minority Leader in Parliament Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu who was also at the conference expressed worry at the state of corruption in Ghana.

He was reported as saying that at this rate Ghana will enter into a ditch if nothing drastic is done about corruption.

He supported the campaign to sensitize people about corruption.
