The Anti-Armed Robbery Unit (AARU) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested a prime suspect, Peter Akakpo, also known by the alias “Dompe,” in connection with a string of robberies and brutal murders targeting taxi drivers in the Greater Accra Region, particularly within the Odorkor area.
According to a press release issued on Friday, October 17, this breakthrough comes in the wake of intensive investigations launched after the killings of two taxi drivers at Sakaman Blue Lagoon, which occurred on May 9th and 15th June, 2025, respectively.

The unit’s intelligence-led operations first led to the arrest of one Vincent Gbetorglo on 30th June 2025. Further investigative work revealed that Gbetorglo had maintained contact with Akakpo, whose mobile number was directly linked to both murder victims.
After weeks of sustained intelligence gathering and surveillance, the AARU arrested Akakpo on 13th October 2025 at Kasoa-Domeabra.
He was found in a room allegedly rented by his accomplice, Vincent Gbetorglo. Akakpo is known to be an ex-convict.

Police say efforts are currently underway to retrieve the vehicles belonging to the deceased drivers, which are believed to have been stolen during the commission of the crimes.
The Ghana Police Service reassured the public that investigations remain ongoing and pledged to provide further updates in due course.
Members of the public with relevant information are encouraged to come forward to assist in the investigation.
