MultiTV’s premium African Entertainment Channel - CINE AFRIK has announced its Special Programming towards the celebration of Ghana’s Independence Day on 6th March 2013. The entire schedule for the day is exclusively Ghanaian. The day begins with back to back play of documentaries celebrating Ghanaian Art Works and Impressions on the program VISUAL ARTS GHANA. It will also feature a special documentary on the declaration of Ghana’s Independence, its Military intervention and Ghana’s Independent Hero – Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. At 9:30am, CINE AFRIK in collaboration with Parables Films will broadcast a special Animated Movie that is inspired by the true event of the 28th February 1948 crossroads shooting. The Movie profiles the frustrated lives of Sergeant Adjetey, Corporal Attipoe, Private Lamptey and numerous other veteran soldiers, who, after fruitless attempts to get the governor to respond to their petition, resolved to personally make a delivery at the castle and defies all odds just to get a fair hearing. But in the end, it is destiny which spells a tragic turn of events at the crossroads, which also sparked the journey to freedom and the total liberation of a people from the grips of British colonial rule. The day also features Amazing Ghanaian Movies. Amongst them is BLACKMAIL (parts 1-3) which screens at 11:30am. In addition, the award winning Ghanaian movie – SOMEWHERE IN AFRICA, which premiered for the first time in Ghana on the channel last December, will screen at 8:30pm. “Television must stay relevant to its viewers through compelling entertainment, education and information” said Nana Yaa Serwaa Sarpong, Channel Manager of Cine Afrik who said the programmes reflect “the inspiration and high spirits of the day”. She reiterated that Cine Afrik will continue to thrill its beloved viewers to true Ghanaian Entertainment all year round. The Highlight of the day is the Live Studio Premiere of the 1983 World War 2 Film – HIS MAJESTY’S SEARGEANT, written and directed by the late Ato Yanney of Flamboyant Films, at 6pm. The film is about the African and Asian participation in World War II fighting on the side of Great Britain, their colonial masters in the jungles of Burma and South East Asia, a period which served as a catalyst for the emancipation of Black Africa. Shot on locations in Ghana and England on Panavision lens, it depicts three missing soldiers thrown together by fate and war, embroiled in their own individual battle for supremacy. Cine Afrik, will for the first time ever on TV in Africa, premiere this movie to millions of its viewers in Ghana, across West, Central, East and Southern parts of Africa. Viewers will have the rare opportunity to interact with Ace Actor Mr. George Williams, Ato Yanney Jnr, amongst others, Live on air as they watch the movie.
