Ghana’s former IBF Welterweight champion Joshua Clottey has announced that he will fight former world champion Anthony Mundine on April 2nd at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre in Broadmeadow, New South Wales, Australia.
The 36-year-old Grandmaster, who secured wins over Dashon Johnson and Calvin Greene in his last two bouts will be seeking his 38th career victory and his third successive triumph over Mundine since his memorable loss to Manny Pacquaio on in March 2010.
Mundine has targeted Saul Alvarez or Miguel Cotto after Clottey, who he says brings credibility to the ring.
“He (Clottey) has got a very tight defence and tries to come back if you put a couple of good ones on him. The reason why we’ve got Clottey is because of his name, his credibility in the business. Clottey has been in some massive fights and so he’s known to the boxing punters,” Mundine said.
Mundine, who confirmed he has been taking in some herbs and roots sanctioned by the World Anti-Doping Agency to revitalize his body ahead of his fight with Clottey, has won 46 fights and lost 5 with no draws out of 51 professional bouts.
