The Odikro of Otwebedidua Number Two, Bafour Kwaku Koranteng, has commended the government for constructing a feeder road from Anomankwanta through Kokobibean, Otwebedidua Number Two and Manya Anomabu to Adumase, farming communities near Suhum in the Eastern Region.
Baffour Kwaku Koranteng told the GNA in an interview that the people of the community never dreamt that the road would one day be constructed and expressed the appreciation of the community to the government for fulfilling its promise.
He said the road, which is under construction, has five bridges and eight culvets and that when it is completed it would help improve the standard of living of the people in the community.
Baffour Kwaku Koranteng said 35 years ago the people built the road through communal labour and since then appeals to the previous governments to reconstruct it failed.
He said the people in the area are cocoa and food crop farmers and that people travelled from Accra, Tema, Suhum, Koforidua and Nsawam to buy foodstuffs from the area but because of bad nature of the road they had stopped buying their farm produce.
Baffour Koranteng appealed to the Suhum/Kraboa/Coaltar District Assembly to call one Opanyin Kwabena Heneku to order for delaying the project.
He said Opanyin Heneku is not allowing the road to pass through his land because it would destroy his cocoa farm and other food crops.
Baffour Kwaku Koranteng said more that 100 farms had been destroyed and that any attempt by Opanin Heneku to frustrate the construction of the road would not be allowed by the community.
