A block making contractor has appeared before court for bribing the Western Regional Police Commander of the Motor Traffic Unit (MTU).
Peter Mensah 35, who pleaded not guilty to a charge of bribing a Police Officer was granted ¢50 million bail until June 11.
The Ahanta East Metropolitan Magistrate’s court, presided over by A.K.Y. Azumah, heard that on May 12, this year, Superintendent Victor Adusah-Poku arrested the driver of an articulated truck near the Takoradi Community Centre for leaving his truck at a dangerous location and also for failing to provide a warning triangle.
Two days later, the accused bribed Superintendent Adusah-Poku to drop the case against him but the Police Officer, arrested him and handed him over to the Sekondi District CID who charged him for the offence.
