Former France captain, Marcel Desailly, believes Côte d’Ivoire has what it takes to play in the final of the 2016 World Cup.
According to him, there is a chance for an African team to get into the last two of the global showpiece after the continent got nine slots.
Desaiy believes Morocco’s exploits in Qatar is a testament of what the African continent can do and tips the Elephants to make the final of this year’s tournament.
“Morocco managed to reach the semifinals in the past World Cup,” he said during the World Cup Trophy Tour in Côte d’Ivoire.
“We are now hoping that now that there are nine African teams in the system, one of them will reach the final.
“Maybe Ivory Coast even though I love Ghana. I believe that Ivory Coast have the potential to reach the final…”
Côte d’Ivoire will look to go past the group stage round for the first time after failing in all previous three attempts in 2006, 2010 and 2014.
