A Fast Track High Court in Accra has acquitted and discharged a business woman in Tema who was standing trial for allegedly importing cocaine and conspiracy to import the narcotic substance.
Augustina Abu was arrested in May after two parcels of cocaine were found in a container load of gum she shipped through the Tema Port.
Delivering his judgment Wednesday, Justice Samuel Manful–Sau, told the court that state prosecutors failed to provide evidence beyond reasonable doubt that Augustina Abu imported the cocaine.
Five alleged accomplices, mainly clearing agents at the port, were earlier acquitted and discharged for lack of evidence.
