The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has revealed that 991 lives have been lost due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
As of August 20, 982 deaths were recorded since the emergence of the virus in March last year.
But in 48 hours, nine deaths were recorded according to the GHS latest update on the fight against the virus.
The active cases currently stand at 6,981. Out of this figure recorded, 153 cases are severe while 52 others are critical.

As of August 22, the number of new cases recorded was 496. The additional cases bring the total confirmed cases to 116,441.
So far, 1,587,422 tests have been carried out at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) and the local communities.
Despite the alarming rate of cases recorded, 108, 469 persons have recovered and have been discharged.
Currently, all sixteen regions in the country are battling active cases. The Greater Accra Region has the most active cases. The North East Region has recorded just one case.
