The Danish government has pledged its continued commitment to supporting Ghana’s economy through funding in new areas such as private sector development. Denmark already contributes some 110 million Ghana cedis annually to Ghana’s economy. Addressing journalists in Accra on Wednesday, the Danish Ambassador, Stig Barlying said Denmark is hopeful its investment will lead to growth and employment creation in Ghana. “Ghana is a prominent member of a relatively small club [of countries] that is receiving heavy support for development from the government of Denmark.” He said Denmark’s support was directed at the private sector as that was a very important sector that leads the creation of jobs. According to the Ambassador district assemblies will from next year have a lot more say as to how funds meant for them are used. Source: Joy News/Ghana
