Datus Complex Schools at Dansoman and Bubiashie in Accra on Monday kick-started their celebration of the African Union (AU) Day in grand style.
Teachers, pupils and the entire management of the schools were clad in the best of Kente and other African prints as part of activities the schools had organized to mark the day which is the 25 the of May every year.
The children engaged in poetry recitals and performed dances of various culture across the continent; the local Adowa and Agbaza dances were obviously not missing in the list.
Datus, founded several decades ago, prides itself on educating many people across West Africa sub-region and contributing enormously to national development.
In a press statement issued after Monday’s event, management said they would continue to ensure the standard that the school has set is maintained.
“Datus Complex Schools, which is a citadel of knowledge, aims at empowering children with knowledge through a bilingual medium (French and English). With four main branches, the school towers above all others in academics, discipline and other fields that adequately equip the child to face the rigors of life.
“The founder, like any other philanthropist, was guided and motivated by the philosophy of sharing whatever he had with the needy, hence the name, “DATUS” which means, “GIVING”. He gave the little he had for the benefit of several others.” a statement on the school’s website indicated.
