The mid-year review meeting of District Chief Executives (DCEs) would be held at Akim Oda from July 11-15, says the DCE of Birim South, Mr. Frank Kwame Busomtwi.
Speaking to the GNA, he said President John Agyekum Kufuor was expected to address the meeting that would be held at the Radbson Hotel at Akim Oda.
The meeting would be on the theme: "Showing Results: Local Implementation of National Initiative".
Police Divisional Commander, Mr Ben Atadana said they were stepping up security for the meeting being organised by the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Environment.
Zoomlion, an environmental company, has also been embarking on daily cleanup to keep the town clean.
Officials of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Environment said in Accra that the meeting was to give an opportunity to the DCEs to assess their performance for the past half-year.
The DCEs are expected to share ideas about their work and also discuss issues that would help accelerate development at the grassroots.
The DCEs are expected, after the conference, to go back their districts to prepare adequately for the annual conference scheduled for December.
At that conference the DCEs would evaluate the entire programmes and activities that take place in the various districts throughout the year.
