A young man who is said to be a known street hawker operating along the Kaneshie-Mallam road was left unattended to, several hours after he died of alleged stomach complications on Monday.
The deceased, believed to be in his early twenties, was found dead under a tree spotting a white long-sleeved shirt and a black pair of trousers at Tweneboa near Sakaman, a suburb of Accra.
Myjoyonline's reporter Benedicta Hoeyi who chanced on the body on her way home reported that eyewitnesses who claimed to know him said he complained of serious stomach ache in the morning.
Perhaps none of his colleagues took him that serious, and therefore did not offer any assistance to him. He was said to have briefly abandoned his hawking and sat under a shelter by the roadside.
He unfortunately passed away while wreathing in pain under the shelter, whilst his colleagues thought he was sleeping.
The police were called in to pick the body, but an eyewitness said some police personnel came around about 6pm, inspected the body and left.
As at 8:30pm on Monday the body was still lying there unattended to.
