Black Stars midfielder Derek Boateng has blamed Tunisian referee Med Kordi for Ghana’s World Cup qualifier defeat to Zambia on Saturday at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium in Ndola.
Zambia captain Christopher Katongo took advantage of some poor defending by the Black Stars to put Zambia ahead 15 minutes into the game.
The Black Stars improved on a terrible first half performance in the second half but that was not enough as the team went down for the second time in four months to Zambia in another crucial match.
According to Derek Boateng, if there is anyone to be blamed for the defeat then it should be referee Med Kordi.
“We didn’t lose the game because we were bad. We lost the game because the last ten minutes the referee frustrated us” Derek Boateng said.
“We were trying to do anything we could but he still frustrated us.
“As you could see we had two fouls at the last minute but the referee whistled against us and showed us yellow cards.
The qualifiers would take a break to return next year and the Black Stars will host Sudan at home on 23rd March.
