Samuel Agyeibie-Kessie, the District Chief Executive for Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira over the weekend urged the youth, particularly school children not to let their quest for money over-ride their education. They should therefore take their lessons seriously and refrain from abandoning school and spending their time in working for money to the extent of engaging in hazardous work. Mr Agyeibie-Kessie said this when he addressed about 500 school children to round off the activities making the celebration of "World day against child labour" at Twifo Praso. He stressed the need for both parents and pupils to ensure that government interventions to enhance education such as the provision and improvement of infrastructure, the capitation grant and school-feeding programme become worthwhile. Mr Agyeibie-Kessie said parents who refuse to send their children to school would be dealt with according to the law but cautioned the children against hiding behind efforts to eliminate child labour by neglecting simple chores given them.
