Stephen Jebi, a 38-year-old driver, has been arrested for allegedly using a fake GH¢5 note to purchase ticket at a tool booth at the Tema Harbour.
DSP Daniel Dankyi, Unit Commander of the Main Harbour Police Station said that at about 4 pm on Wednesday, July 18, security personnel of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority at the fishing harbour arrested and brought Jebi for allegedly using a fake GH¢5 note to purchase a toll.
A search on him revealed an additional six Gh¢5 notes all faded and suspected to be fake and when questioned, he said somebody hired his car and paid him with the said money.
DSP Dankyi said the notes with numbers LA 8651876, LA8651871, LD 1451172 LA8651873 LA 8651874, LA 8651872 and LA 8651875 will be sent to the appropriate place for verification.
