DSTC Solar Training Centre has begun the third training course on design and installation of grid connect solar systems in Accra.
In all, 14 stakeholders from various institutions comprising the Ghana Electrical Contractors Association, Wa Polytechnic, GREDA, Kumasi Polytechnic, Accra Polytechnic and the University of Ghana are attending the training.
The main objective of the training, supported by the GIZ - Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, is to build capacity for major players in the energy industry to harness the use of solar energy for both urban and rural development.
Opening the training course, Mr. Frede Bosteen, Director of DSTC Solar Training Centre expressed gratitude to GIZ for helping to make the training a possibility.
In the course of the 10-day training period, participants will be taken through both theory and practical aspects of designing and installing grid connected solar systems by DSTC technical trainers. They will also be trained in the business aspects of grid connected solar systems by the German business trainer and solar entrepreneur Mr. Georg Hille and Ghanaian trainer Mr. Frank Dadzie.
This is the 3rd training course on grid connected solar systems organized by DSTC. The first two courses were held in July and November 2014 with support from GIZ.
Since 2013, GIZ Ghana has promoted renewable energy via policy advisory services, regulatory advice, incentives for productive use of energy and the facilitation of business partnerships.
