The Ghanaian subsidiary of Equatorial Coca-Cola Bottling Company (ECCBC) clinched the prestigious Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Manufacturing Company of the Year accolade at the 10th edition of the Ghana CSR Excellence Awards (GHACEA).
The award recognises ECCBC's outstanding efforts in pioneering sustainable initiatives in areas such as Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Health, and Women and Youth Empowerment.
The ceremony, held at the Marriot Hotel, comes at a time when ECCBC's alignment with its ESG Impact Strategy 2030 could not be more successful.
ECCBC has successfully rolled out initiatives in Ghana focusing on water stewardship, economic empowerment of women and youth, and packaging waste management, through collaborations with The Coca-Cola Foundation, various partners, and NGOs, including Recycle Up! Ghana, on the We Recycle Project, focused on PET collection and recycling.
Felix Gomis, the Managing Director of ECCBC West Africa Countries Business Unit, said, “We are deeply honored to receive the Corporate Social Responsibility Award from the Ghana CSR Excellence Awards. This recognizes the commitment and substantial efforts by our dedicated team at ECCBC to create substantial, positive change in our communities. Our ESG Impact Strategy 2030 is not just a roadmap, but a commitment to the environment, women, and youth empowerment, as well as health initiatives, especially in the critical areas of water, sanitation, and hygiene. We consider this award not just as recognition, but as a catalyst to continue our vision and intensify our community-oriented programs.”
Among ECCBC's standout projects is the Integrated Community WASH Project. It also, provides crucial hands-on training for women in beneficiary communities, empowering them to take up leadership roles within various Water and Sanitation Management Teams (WSMTs).
Earlier this year, ECCBC's devotion to social responsibility, environmental sustainability, and ethical business practices was also recognized as the company clinched the Socially Responsible Company of the Year at the 7th Ghana Beverage Awards.
Renowned as one of the continent's premier sustainability and business excellence awards, the Ghana CSR Excellence Awards are organized by the Center for Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability West Africa in partnership with the Association of Ghana Industries, the Federation of Ghana Exporters Association, and the nation's Ministry of Trade and Industry.
Their 2023 edition saw participation from nearly 100 companies.
