Dr Ahmed Nazir, English and Arabic Lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Languages, has called on fashion designers to support their apprentices to take advantage of professional courses run by the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI).
This, he said, was necessary to enable them to adopt best practices to sustain their businesses.
Dr Nazir was speaking at the passing out ceremony for five master dressmakers after a three-year refresher course in tailoring, dressmaking, designing and embroidery.
It was organized by the BABS Creative Fashion Centre in collaboration with the Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association.
Dr Nazir advised them to be disciplined and work hard to enhance their career development.
Mr Baba Issah Musah, Chief Executive Officer of BABS, urged the graduates to form partnerships to enable them to have access to soft loans from financial institutions to operate with.
They should bring the knowledge acquired to bear on their job.
