The Energy Minister has announced the setting up of a committee to investigate the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) pipeline leakage that led to a fire outbreak yesterday.
Members of the committee will be drawn from the National Petroleum Authority, the Energy Ministry and National Security.
Joy News’ Joseph Opoku Gakpo, who has been following developments at the refinery reports that the committee will investigate the cause of the leakage as well as examine whether TOR has in place enough safety measures.
The committee would be expected to find out whether something could have been done to avoid Tuesday’s incident, where people siphon oil from the pipeline and how to avoid future occurrences, and also find out whether TOR was abiding by all the required safety measures.
Energy Minister, Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah said the committee would be charged to speed up its investigations in order to complete their work as early as possible.
One person died and three others were injured in the fire outbreak, which also destroyed a number of properties.
