The President of Equatorial Guinea has asked President Mills to ensure that Ghana’s democracy, which is a model for the rest of Africa, is not disrupted.
President Teodoro Mbasogo says Ghana is envied, especially, in Africa.
The visiting president says it is therefore crucial to ensure peace, harmony and justice continue to prevail in the country.
He was speaking at a luncheon held in his honour at the Peduase lodge earlier Wednesday.
“We have to congratulate you for the level of democracy which you have attained in your country. Which is paramount; it is almost tangible,” the Mr Mbasogo said through an interpreter.
President John Atta Mills promised to work improve Ghana’s relationship with Equatorial Guinea.
“Indeed, both countries share the view that if we are to progress, we better begin with ourselves; we should cooperate with one another, find out our common objective and use our strength to be able to chart a new course and raise the living standards of our people,” President Mills said.
