Tunisian giants, Esperance have parted ways with head coach Maher Kanzari following the club’s failure to reach the final of the Orange CAF Champions League.
Esperance were held to a 1-1 draw by Orlando Pirates of South Africa in the second leg clash on Saturday in Rades, allowing the visitors to advance on the away goal rule after a one-all aggregate after two legs.
The victory denied the ‘Blood and Gold’ a fourth successive appearance in the premier continental club championship.
“President Hamdi Meddeb held a meeting on Monday afternoon with Maher Kanzari to discuss the current situation of the club.
“After a cordial discussion, the two sides agreed to part amicably after the coach failed to achieve the main objective of the club, CAF Champions League,” read a statement on the official website of the Tunisian giants.
His deputy Skander Kasri will act in the interim and assisted by Adel Latrech until a substantive trainer is named.
Esperance were beaten by Egyptian giants Al-Ahly in last year’s final losing 3-2 on aggregate.
Ahly will meet Orlando Pirates in the final over two-legs next month.
