The European Union has denied putting undue pressure on Ghana to sign the Economic Partnership Agreement.
The International Trade Committee of Europe in March revised to October 2014, the deadline for signing the full agreement with Ghana.
This nullifies the earlier decision by the EU parliament to extend the deadline to 2016 for further negotiations.
Some civil society groups have described the move as unfair and have asked the WTO to call the EU to order.
But the EU Ambassador to Ghana, Claude Marten disagrees. He says Ghana had over five years to decide whether the pact would be beneficial or not.
Mr Marten is optimistic Ghana would sign the agreement.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Thomas Kwesi Quartey had stated that government would not be forced to sign any agreement that could be injurious to its people.
He had described the behaviour of the EU as damaging.
