Ex Ghana Captain Stephen Appiah is backing current skipper Asamoah Gyan to lead the country to its fifth Nations Cup title at the 2013 Nations Cup in South Africa.
The Black Stars who are currently in Abu Dhabi preparing for the tournament are keen on ending the country’s 31- year trophy drought.
Appiah, who captained the Black Stars for over 8 years, believes Asamoah Gyan has got the qualities to lead the team to a successful tournament.
“Asamoah Gyan is a funny guy who can entertain and handle the players and I think is not going to be that difficult for him to lead them,” the former Fenerbahce star told JOY Sports
“I will tell Asamoah the most important thing is that you have to let the players respect you".
“It is all about your character, the way you interact and speak to them which I strongly believe Asamoah Gyan is good at that.”
The Black Stars will kick start their campaign against DR Congo next Sunday in Port Elizabeth at the 2013 Nations Cup in South Africa,
