The ‘Prince of Goals’ Prince Tagoe has called time on national team duties adding that he wants to concentrate more on his Club activities.
The player who had a brief romance with the senior national team the Black Stars scoring some important goals in the process, has been left in the cold by the present technical handlers of the Black Stars.
Tagoe was called to the national team for the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations by the coach Ratomir Dujković. He only played a total of 49 minutes for his team which did not make it into the quarter-finals.
He was selected by the then coach of the Black Stars Milovan Rajevac as part of the final 23-man squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. He played in all three group matches, as a starter, but did not take any part of the tournament since then as Ghana was eliminated by Uruguay in the quarter-finals.
Soon after the World Cup, the players performance at Club level, took a nosedive and this accounted for his exclusion from the Black Stars since then.
Now a player of Club Africain, Tagoe has decided to concentrate on his career at the Club level and hang his boots for the national team.
“He is no more interested in the national team as he wants to concentrate and play football for his new Club, Club Africain”, his manager Nat Ofosu mentioned.
“At the moment he is having a few difficulties with the paperwork and because of that he is still in Ghana, but as soon as it is rectified, he will leave to join them for the remainder of the season.”
Tagoe has so far made 36 appearances for the Black Stars scoring seven (7) goals in the process.
