The Juaso Circuit Court, presided over by Mr. Jacob Boon has sentenced a 50-year-old farmer to 12 months imprisonment in hard labour for stealing a sheep worth GH¢ 40 (400,000 cedis).
Kwaku Manu who pleaded guilty to the charge was convicted on his own plea.
Police Detective Inspector Mike Fritz Bekoe, prosecuting said the complainant was a policeman stationed at Agogo, whilst the accused was a farmer also resident at Agogo.
He said on August 12, the complainant was standing in front of the Agogo police station around 0800 hours when he spotted Manu suddenly diving and catching a sheep nearby.
According to the prosecutor, the complainant, who became suspicious approached the accused to enquire about who owned the sheep.
He said Manu responded that a woman in a nearby house had sold the animal to him but when the woman was contacted she denied even knowing the accused, he was therefore arrested.
