But for the timely intervention of personnel from the Fire Service, the plush Ayele House Building close to the University of Professional Studies in Legon, Accra would have been reduced to ashes.
The fire, which was said to have started behind the Accra College of Education, quickly spread towards the glassed Ayele building with onlookers struggling in vain to douse the flames.
Myjoyonline.com’s David Andoh quoted police chief Patrick Timbilla as saying it took more than an hour to put out the fire.
The Fire Service personnel arrived on time to put out the fire before it could spread.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained but DCOP Patrick Timbilla at a press conference cautioned all to be careful, especially with the dry season is approaching.
