First National Bank, a micro-finance bank, has donated gas cookers to the Ghana Education Service in the Central Region to distribute to deserving teachers at the regional best teachers’ awards ceremony. The gesture, according to the bank, is part of their cooperate social responsibility to the Education sector to motivate teachers who have excelled in their career. The 10 cookers, valued at GHC5,000, were received by the Regional Director of the Ghana Education service, Mr. Sarfo kantaka at the premises of the bank. Presenting the cookers to the GES, the Acting Communications Director for First National Bank, Andrew Gyewu Mensah said First National Savings and Loans Company will continue to support education in the country because it is a key enabler in accelerating development. “First national has been a supporter of these awards. So this is to show our support for the teachers and the Ghana education service as a whole. This is not the first time we are supporting the teachers’ awards and we have the conviction that this will serve as an incentive to all teachers to motivate them to give off their best.” Mr. Sarfo Kantanka thanked First National Savings and Loans Company for the donation and promised that the cookers would be distributed to the teachers as awards in the Central Regional best teachers awards. “We are very much appreciative of this kind gesture from your company. We promise to work hand in hand with you for our mutual benefit. As teachers, we will always keep on producing the brains in the country towards the socio-economic development of the country.”
