Former president Jerry John Rawlings will on Wednesday lead members of the June 4 uprising to mark the 35th anniversary of the coup that toppled the Supreme Military Council.
The Supreme Military Council (SMC) was the ruling government of Ghana from 1975 to 1979.
Then Chairman of the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC), Flt. Lft. Jerry John Rawlings started a 'house cleaning' exercise against corruption in 1979.
Three former military leaders of Ghana, Lt. Gen Akwasi Amankwa Afrifa, General Ignatius Kutu Acheampong and Lieutenant General Fred W. K. Akuffo were all executed together with five other senior officers deemed to have been corrupt by the special courts set up by the government.
