Founder of Unification Church, Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon, has ascended (Seonghwa) at the age of 92. An Ascension (Seonghwa) committee will be organized by International President Hyung-jin Moon as a chairman of ascension committee for every field. Public Relations Officer at the Ghana Office of the Unification Church Rev. Raymond Danquah disclosed to Myjoyonline.com that Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon died at 1:54 am on Monday September 3, 2012 at Cheongshim International Medical Center, South Korea. Rev. Danquah said the Seonghwa ceremony (funeral) and burial will be held on the 13th day after death (September 15th). All Unification church members are asked to offer special devotions for 3 days in their respective places. Unification church members and visitors who wish to pay respects may do so from September 6th- 13th at the Cheongshim Peace World Center. Official title of Seonghwa ceremony is “Sun Myung Moon, the True Parent of Heaven and Earth Seonghwa Ceremony” The ceremony is scheduled to be held in the morning of September 15th. The burial site will be located at Mt. Cheonseong, Songsan-ri, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon was born on January 6th, 1920. (lunar calendar) Rev. Moon founded the Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity in 1954. Since then, he has developed religious movement which has sent missionaries to 194 nations. Rev. Moon has dedicated his entire life toward establishing world peace and saving humankind through building numerous service organizations and activities. In November 1995, during a world tour, the Rev. and Mrs. Moon visited Ghana where he spoke to the Public at the International Conference Centre in Accra on the need for world peace through Ideal Families. He paid a courtesy call on the then Head of State Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings.
