Ghana’s women's national U-20 team, the Black Princesses lost 1-2 to Nigeria in the first of a two-game friendly series in Accra.
The first game which came off at the Accra Stadium on Friday afternoon saw the Nigerians take the lead throughHalima Ayinde but Ghana’sChristiana Boateng pegged back with a nice effort to restore parity.
The Falconets however capitalised on a defensive slip-up by the Princesses to snatch victory through a Winfred Eyebhoria strike in the final minutes to end the game 2-1.
The second of the two-game series to be played on home and away basis has been set for the Dansoman Park in Accra on Sunday, June 8 after which the coach Bashir Hayford side will travel to Nigeria in a fortnight to complete the double-headed away fixture.
Both teams are preparing for the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup set for August 5 to 24 in Canada. Ghana is drawn in Group A of the alongside host nation Canada, Korea DPR and Finland while Nigeria finds itself in Group C to face England, Korea Republic and Mexico.
