The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has denied allegations its men brutalised students of the Wa Islamic High School in the Upper West Region, who were protesting hikes in school fees.
"This is an allegation you are making. I will have to follow up on that. I don't think they will go to ask students to lie on the floor and lash them.
My information from the Commanding Officer there, no brutality took place, Public Affairs Director of the GAF Col Aggrey Quarshie told Joy News' Hannah Odame.
Two students of the school sustained injuries when the soldiers allegedly beat them yesterday.
The students were reportedly demonstrating against hikes in school fees.
The police were called in to restore order but failed, as students allegedly pelted them with stones.
The soldiers were then called in by the head teacher to restore order and they did that by allegedly assaulting the students.
Myjoyonline.com has pictures of the students lying prostrate on the ground with the soldiers holding canes close-by.

But Col. Quarshie denied there was any form of assault.
He explained because the police had failed to maintain law and order, the military had to use necessary strategies to get the students to fall in line.
He however assured that the military will investigate the matter and punish any member found culpable of any assault.
Meanwhile, Joy FM's Rafiq Salam, who broke the story, has reported that calm has since returned to the school.
One of the students who was admitted has been discharged with the other in a stable condition.
