Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) Limited has presented a cheque of GH 20,000 cedis (200 million cedis) to Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) in support of its Governance Dialogue Programme slated for next week.
This year's dialogue, the second in a series, is on the theme: "Accelerating Regional Integration for Wealth Creation and Sustainable Development".
It aims at providing a platform, which would highlight governance issues in Africa to help improve the quality of life on the sub-region.
Mr. Lawrence N. Adu-Mante, Managing Director, GCB, expressed concerned about issues of regional integration and wealth creation.
According to Mr. Adu-Mante the dialogue, among other things, would help identify goals, objectives and actions, which would facilitate a common market within the ECOWAS sub-region and identify barriers of attracting investments.
He said the topic to be discussed was dear to the heart of GCB because increased investments, common currency and common market revolved around the Bank's core businesses.
Mr. Adu-Mante said the donation did not only form part of its social responsibility but was in line with its desire to see democracy entrenched in Ghana and other parts of Africa.
Mr. Ibrahim Awal, Managing Director of GCGL, said the Company, which had a readership of two million, owed it a duty to help sustain micro economic stability.
He said to achieve greater economic growth in Africa there was the need to create a democratic environment that would unleash mutual benefit.
Mr. Awal said he was optimistic that the relationship between GCGL and the Bank would grow from strength to strength.
