The Ghana Football Association (GFA), has remained tight lipped over the inclusion of local players into the Black Stars for the 2014 World Cup.
There have been calls for the inclusion of some local players for the World Cup and notable among them are; Aduana Star’s goalkeeper Stephen Adams and Kumasi Asante Kotoko duo Abeiku Ainooson and Kwabena Adusei.
The FA however wants selection of players to remain the sole prerogative of the head coach James Kwesi Appiah.
“The head coach has absolute control over which player he calls and who not to invite.
“It is not in the place of the FA to decide for him”. GFA spokesperson Ibrahim Saanie Daara said in an interview.
“He makes the decisions and he has monitored all the players and he must take the decisions that he feels will be in the interest of Ghana”. Daara said.
Ghana will be making a third World Cup appearance in Brazil and the Black Stars are housed in Group G, with USA, Germany and Portugal.
