The Ghana Highway Authority is set to rescind its earlier decision not to give beneficiaries of the Road Maintenance Module of the National Youth Employment Programme, the permit to patch potholes on highways.Acting Director of Road Maintenance at the Authority Ofori Frimpong had told Asempa News last week that beneficiaries of the road Maintenance Module under the National Youth Employment Program were not qualified to fill the potholes on highways.According to Mr. Ofori Frimpong, the beneficiaries lack the requisite knowledge to perform their duties. This claim was however refuted by the NYEP, which insisted that the beneficiaries were more than qualified to do the job.But Deputy National Coordinator of the National Youth Employment Program (NYEP) Alhaji Alhassan Tabsoba has hinted Asempa News that the Ghana Highway Authority has decided to work with the NYEP beneficiaries to patch potholes of highways.Alhaji Tabsoba also disclosed that, after several interventions to save the Road Maintenance Module from collapsing the Ministry of Roads and Highways has now agreed to release the 10% of the Road Fund, to enable the NYEP undertake the project.Meanwhile, officials from the NYEP and GHA are scheduled to hold a crunch meeting later today, to deliberate on how the two bodies can collaborate effectively.Story: Nana Ama Agyarko/Asempa News/Ghana
