Ghana’s mission in London is establishing the identity of one Kweku Adoboli arrested in London over a 2 billion dollar fraud at Swiss Bank, UBS.
The thirty-one-year-old employee of the bank was arrested by police in the office yesterday morning and is still in detention.
News about the arrest which sent the bank’s shares tumbling has dominated the major international news networks since it broke.
High Commissioner to the UK, Professor Kwaku Danso-Boafo told Joy News though the name clearly sounds Ghanaian, his outfit is establishing his true identity for any legal services he may require.
Professor Danso-Boafo rejected suggestions the incident is quite damaging for the country’s image abroad.
