Sheikh Dr. Amin Bonsu, Deputy Imam of the Ghana Muslim Mission has called on Ghanaians to adopt preventive measures that would keep them healthy at all times.
He said the adoption of preventive measures would not only keep them healthy but would also cut down their huge medical bills and increase productivity.
Sheikh Bonsu made the call at the opening of a conference of the Greater Accra Regional branch of the Mission in Accra on Saturday.
The conference under the theme: "Islam and Preventive Healthcare", was aimed at educating the members on the need to take preventive measures and also seek early medical treatment any time they fall sick.
Sheikh Bonsu, who is also the Acting Ashanti Regional chairman of the Mission, advised them to eat more fruits and increase their daily water intake to replenish water lost through sweat.
He urged them to desist from going into faith healers to seek medical treatment which he said sometimes lead to confusion and broken homes.
"Some of these faith healers would tell you that your mother is a witch or your sister is having a hand in your sickness which in fact is not true," he said
Sheikh Bonsu appealed to Muslims to take interest in the annual hajj pilgrimage which he said was more exercise.
Mr Ahmed Amar-tsen, Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the Mission urged Muslims to live by the tenets of Islam.
