Mrs Joana Osei-Poku, Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of Human Resource Development on Friday said the police were prepared to ensure a safe CAN 2008 Tournament in the country next year.
She said the Police Administration was aware of the security challenges and the attention of the world on the country and was well prepared to brave the task for a peaceful and successful tournament.
Mrs Osei-Poku gave the assurance when she reviewed a passing-out parade of 142 police recruits at the Volta Regional Police Training School in Ho.
She said the Police Administration remained committed to bring crime rate in the country to the barest minimum and called for cooperation from the public.
"It is the civic duty of the public to cooperate with the police to enable it improve on the quality of service rendered," Mrs Osei-Poku added.
She urged the public to provide the police with relevant information to help it track down criminals and in addition, expose police personnel who indulge in unprofessional and corrupt activities.
Mrs Osei-Poku commended the recruits and advised them to let the skills and acknowledge acquired help them in their performance with high sense of professionalism and discipline.
General Recruit Martinson Dugbatey from Aburi Akuapim in the Eastern Region was adjudged the overall best recruit among six recruits who won awards.
The recruits during their six months training were taught Human Rights, Acts and Decrees, Criminal Investigations, Law of Evidence, Practical Police Duties, English Language, Domestic Violence, Social Psychology, Policing Ethics, French and HIV/AIDS.
