The Ghana Tennis Association (GTA) will from January 19-26, host the West and Central Zonal African Junior Championship at the Accra Lawn Tennis Club.
The championship is expected to be graced by 13 countries who are expected to arrive in the country on January 18 to participate in the seven day event.
A statement signed by Ignatius Elletey, Secretary General of the Ghana Tennis Association copied to GNA Sports in Accra on Tuesday said, the championship is a qualifier for the African Championship scheduled for Morocco in May this year.
It said as part of the programme, a three day International Tennis Federation (ITF) coaching course will be organised from January 16-18 at the Accra Lawn Tennis Club to precede the championship.
The statement commended the management of telecommunications’ company, MTN, for providing some support towards organisation of the championship and called on other organisations to support the GTA to organise a successful event.
