Ing. Senyo Theodore Amengor is the new Managing Director of Ghana Urban Water Limited, the subsidiary company established by government to manage the operations of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) after the exit of Aqua Vitens Rand Limited (AVRL) in June this year.
Ing. Amengor joined the then Ghana Water and Sewerage Corporation (GWSC) in August, 1980 and was posted to the Eastern Region as Projects Engineer till February, 1984.
He was transferred to the Head Office as a Counterpart Engineer on a Canadian Government (CIDA) funded Urban and Rural water Project in Northern Ghana.
He designed and supervised the Water Supply Systems Improvement and Stabilization Programme also in the Northern Region.
Ing. Amengor worked as a Regional Engineer in the Ashanti and Central Regions and became the Regional Director of the Volta Region in March, 1997.
In October, 1999 he was transferred to the Brong Ahafo Region as the Regional Chief Manager, then to Tema Region when the Greater Accra Region was divided in to Three (3) Operational Regions by the Ghana Water Company Limited.
He also became the Regional Chief Manager for Accra West Region and General Manager for Projects in November, 2008.
Ing Senyo Amengor, who has a thirty two-year working experience in the water sector, was the Chief Operating Officer for the erstwhile Aqua Vitens Rand Limited and on several occasions acted as the Managing Director.
He currently holds an Executive Masters in Business Administration (EMBA) from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), a Master of Science degree from International Institute for Infrastructure, Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering, Delft in the Netherlands.
Ing. Amengor attended the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Kumasi, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree with honours in Civil Engineering from 1975 to 1979. He is an Old student of Mawuli School and a member of the 1973/75 year group. He also attended Primary and Middle Schools in Wodeme, Peki Evangelical Presbyterian Middle Boarding School from 1966 to 1968 and same primary school in Frankadua from 1960 to 1966.
Ing. Senyo Amengor is a versatile Civil Engineering professional, specialized in Water Supply and environmental engineering, with a very rich experience in Personnel and Financial Management.
He has attended and participated in several professional courses and seminars, and holds Certificates in Professional Project Management, Management Development and Feasibility Studies.
He also has a Certificate in Spatial Planning to Guide Urban Infrastructure Investment from London, Certificate in Planning, Appraisal, Implementation and Management of Water Supply and Sanitation Projects and Programmes from the University of Bradford, United Kingdom and Certificate in Water Resources Management, Italy.
Ing. Senyo Amengor was, from 1988 to 1997, the staff representative on the Board of GWSC where he won the admiration of many because of his good interpersonal skills, and ability to motivate and inspire people and above all, his willingness to make personal sacrifices and ability to stay focused while maintaining emotional intelligence.
He exercises with table and or Lawn Tennis in his leisure time, finds classical music and soccer irresistible and loves to read most of the time. He is a member of the Ghana Institute of Engineers and happily married.
He thanked the Government for the confidence reposed in Ghanaian Management capability and promises that, together with his team of well endowed professionals, they will live up to expectation. He is not interested in who takes the credit; the job must be done, effectively and efficiently to the satisfaction of all. “We are capable,” he concluded.
Ing. Amengor was born in October 1955 and hails from Peki in the Volta Region.
