The Ghana Water Company says it is working assiduously to restore water supply to flood and fire survivors at Adabraka here in Accra.
Many pipelines to the community were destroyed during the fire outbreak and flooding which killed more than 150 people.
The taps of residents have been dry since the disaster struck and the survivors say they are desperately in need of water to bath and to drink.
Joy FM, through Mobile Water donated 2,000 packs of sachet water to the residents but that is woefully inadequate.
Besides that was only meant for drinking. The residents say they have been depending on water from drains to wash and to clean. They urgently need water from taps to wash the mud that has entered into the rooms.
One of the residents named only as Bernard told Joy News' Francis Abban he had to walk to Neoplan station several 100s of meters to fetch water to wash their clothes.
Communications Manager for the Ghana Water Company, Stanley Martey said his company has been coordinating with NADMO to provide the residents water in tankers until repair works have been completed.
"The pipeline that crosses the Odaw drain has been washed off by the floods and it has been decommissioned as a result.
"What we are doing is an alternative means in supplying the people with water," he said.
He added his company is considering other measures to connect the Adabraka residents to another lines. Despite the tanker supplies, some residents still complain of not receiving water for their daily chore but Stanley Martey indicated that they are monitoring the situation and would get to places where they haven't received water.
Martey promised that by close of day today or tomorrow the residents may be connected to another pipeline.
