Ghana have won their first major trophy in Rugby after securing the 2018 Africa Bronze Cup on home soil on Saturday.
The Eagles proved their 57-0 semi-final win over Rwanda was not a fluke as they defeated high-rated Mauritius in the final to win the competition held at the Papa Kwesi Ndoum Stadium.
Mauritius began on an auspicious note and it was no surprise they took an early lead but the Eagles of Ghana rallied back in super fashion. They ended the first period with an 8-5 lead.

Ghana continued to dominate in the second half. In the last 10 minutes of the game, Mauritius tried to mount a comeback but their efforts proved futile. Ghana held on to secure the win and so have qualified to compete in the Silver Cup later this year in Tunisia.
But the captain of the team Michael Ako Wilson is cautioning his teammates against complacency. “Mission has been accomplished but we still have a lot of work to do. We’ve won the African Challenge and the Bronze Cup. The Silver Cup which comes will be the toughest. We need to be prepared for it”
In the third-place play-off, it was Rwanda who earned the bragging rights. They defeated Lesotho 32-20.
