Some Ghanaian entrepreneurs who want to engage in joint partnership with their foreign counterparts only want to offer land as their part of the deal, Namibian ambassador to Ghana has said.
Ambassador Charles Josob said, “Ghanaian entrepreneurs when doing partnership want to offer land as their part of the deal, meanwhile we all know issues with land litigation in this country.”
He, therefore, urged “Entrepreneurs in Ghana must be competitive and global-oriented.”
Ambassador Josob said if this is not changed, moves to have Ghanaian entrepreneurs go into partnership with foreign businesses could face hurdles.
He was speaking at the second edition of the Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference in Accra.
Technical Advisor to the Senior Minister Robert Poku Kyei said the agenda by the government to move the country beyond aid will cure the trend of using the only land as an offer in business partnerships.
According to him, the current move by the government to reduce the country’s debt to GDP ratio to about 69 percent indicates that there is growth in the business front.
He said that the focus of the government is to position private sector enterprises to be competitive in the international market thereby expanding the growth
