Ghana goalkeeper Daniel Agyei conceded four goals on his debut for Free State Stars but the club’s Coach Komphela believes poor officiating caused his goalkeeper.
The Free State Stars Coach Komphela fumed at referee Victor Gomes for poor officiating following his side's 4-1 loss to Super Sport United and will be charged by the League in the subsequent days following the comments he made to match officials in the opening weekend of the PSL.
“My goalie’s agility on the day was superb but it was the referee who caused as on the day and am not perturbed since this is our first game in the PSL,”he said
Mongezi Bobe had put Ea Lla Koto ahead in the 10th minute but defender Soriola Gege would be sent off later in the half, allowing SuperSport to take control.
Mame Niang equalised from the spot just before the break while Bennett Chenene struck four minutes after the interval.
Sameehg Doutie came off the bench to make the result safe with six minutes to go but there was still enough time for Niang to net his second goal of the night.
It wasn’t the dream debut the Ghana international was looking for but would take solace in the fact that he played the full game under difficult circumstances as his side played almost 50 minutes of the game with a man down.
Free States Stars now are placed at the bottom of the league with no point with three goals against.
