Government is fashioning out a fantastic package aimed at motivating Ghana's Black Stars to excel in the 26th MTN Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
Mr. Osei Bonsu Amoah, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sports told the GNA Sports that the package to be announced soon is to inspire the team to fight for the trophy that will be at stake when the continent's best 16 gather in Ghana.
The Black Stars will be chasing a record-equalling fifth title when the three-week fiesta commences at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra on Sunday, January 20.
Egypt are currently the only to win the diadem five times.
The Deputy Minister said the package is pregnant with amazing match bonuses and a special bequest if they lift the trophy that would equal Egypt's reign.
"The package is to ensure that the Stars begin the campaign motivated enough to repeat the feat of 1978 when we hosted and won."
He said history favours the Ghanaians to lift the trophy, quoting the recent successes chalked by Tunisia and Egypt as host in the last two editions of the continental party.
"Apart from the history of 1978 backing us, we also have that of Tunisia and Egypt to inspire us to lift the trophy."
Ghana starts the biennial championship with a Group A opener with Guinea.
Morocco and Namibia are the rest making Group A and playing in the capital, Accra.
